August 24 2026 10:26:15     SunSirs (John)

Price trends

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, bromine prices traded within a narrow range last week. The average market price was 39,520 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 39,500 RMB/ton at the weekend, representing a decline of 0.05% and a year-on-year increase of 34.35%. On August 20, the SunSirs bromine index stood at 138.60, remaining flat compared to the previous day; this figure is 43.73% lower than the period high of 246.32 points (recorded on April 7, 2026) and 135.23% higher than the period low of 58.92 points (recorded on October 29, 2014). (Note: The period covers September 1, 2011, to the present.)

Market Analysis

Bromine prices traded within a consolidated range last week. In the Shandong region, ex-works prices are currently hovering between 39,000 and 40,000 RMB/ton. While manufacturers remain reluctant to sell and continue to hold firm on prices, traders are eager to offload inventory, leading to a slight decline in transaction prices. Regarding demand, downstream consumption remains lackluster, with purchasing limited to immediate, essential needs.

Regarding raw materials, domestic sulfur prices fell overall this week; the average market price was 9,502.33 RMB/ton at the beginning of last week and 9,235.67 RMB/ton at the end, representing a decline of 2.81%—though this remains an increase of 252.82% compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand remains steady.

Market Outlook

Bromine prices have recently been consolidating. While upstream sulfur prices have trended weak, bromine supply remains moderate; downstream buyers are purchasing strictly according to need, as the industry is currently in its off-season. Overall trading activity is subdued, reflecting a tug-of-war between supply and demand. Prices are expected to continue consolidating in the near term, with the specific trajectory depending on downstream market demand.
