1. [Batteries] The MIIT working group on standards for lithium-ion batteries and similar products has officially launched a dedicated "nail penetration" assessment for sodium-ion batteries. This initiative involves systematic safety verification across products with varying energy densities, helping enterprises proactively identify safety risks and optimize product designs, while supporting the unified implementation of industry standards.

2. [Polyoxymethylene] Construction is progressing steadily on the 80,000-ton-per-year polyoxymethylene (POM) engineering plastics project undertaken by Lihuayi (Lijin) Engineering Plastics Co., Ltd. The project entails the construction of an 80,000-ton-per-year POM production line and a supporting formaldehyde unit, with completion and commissioning scheduled for October of this year.

3. [Acrylic Acid] Recently, the filing process was completed for Shandong Rongdatong New Materials' 200,000-ton/year acrylic acid project. The project will be implemented in two phases: Phase I involves the construction of 12,000 square meters of facilities, including units with capacities of 100,000 tons/year for acrylic acid and 2×50,000 tons/year for refined acrylic acid, along with supporting tank farms, environmental protection systems, and various utility facilities; Phase II will add production units of the same scale, utilizing the utility and auxiliary facilities from Phase I. Upon completion, the project will achieve a total acrylic acid production capacity of 200,000 tons/year.

4. [Ethanol] Xinjiang Tianye’s coal-based ethanol plant (with an annual capacity of 250,000 tons) is scheduled for maintenance in mid-August.

5. [Diethylene Glycol] For the week of August 18-24, 1,000 tonnes of deep-sea diethylene glycol (DEG) are scheduled to arrive at Zhangjiagang; however, overall vessel arrivals remain scarce, and the tight supply situation persists.

6. [MDI] On August 18, due to the sharp rise in raw material and energy costs in Europe, Wanhua Chemical’s subsidiary, BorsodChem (Hungary), decided to increase prices by €200/tonne for all MDI products, €350/tonne for all TDI products, and €300/tonne for all polyether and polyester polyol products. The new prices take effect immediately or in accordance with contract terms.

7. [Polysilicon] Customs data shows that China imported 791 tonnes of polysilicon in July 2026, a year-on-year decrease of 32.4%; cumulative imports for the January-July period totaled 8,572 tonnes, down 30.8% year-on-year.
