SunSirs: China Rapeseed Meal Market Ends Week with Weak, Oscillating Trend

According to data from SunSirs, the average market price of rapeseed meal was 2,386 RMB/tonne on August 10 and 2,358 RMB/tonne on August 14, representing a decline of 1.17%.
In the short term, low port inventories combined with essential demand for aquaculture feed halted the downward trend and provided support for prices to bottom out and stabilize. However, expectations of ample arrivals of new-season rapeseed and the substitution effect of soybean meal continue to exert pressure, limiting the potential for a significant rebound.
Drought conditions in Canadian rapeseed-growing regions have fueled speculative interest regarding costs, providing momentum for a slight market recovery; nevertheless, the overarching trend of a bumper harvest for the new crop remains unchanged, and import costs are unlikely to sustain an upward trajectory sufficient to drive prices significantly higher.
A pattern of narrow-range fluctuation is expected to persist in the short term; however, once new rapeseed shipments arrive later in the month and supply eases, prices will likely face renewed downward pressure.
