Price trend
According to monitoring by the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of potassium sulfate (50% content) was 4,030 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 4,023 RMB/ton at the end of the week, representing a decline of 0.17%.
Market analysis
The market price for potassium sulfate remained sluggish this week; ex-factory prices for 52% powder (including fully water-soluble grades) hovered around 4,250-4,300 RMB/ton, while the delivered price for 50% powder ranged from 3,700 to 3,850 RMB/ton. Sales were primarily driven by existing orders from established clients. Although supply was locally tight due to maintenance shutdowns at some manufacturers—keeping prices relatively firm—overall trading volume remained limited.
Cost side: The primary raw materials for processed potassium sulfate are potassium chloride and sulfuric acid. Recently, potassium chloride prices have generally trended downward, weakening cost support for potassium sulfate; however, sulfuric acid prices remain high, keeping the total production cost of processed potassium sulfate elevated. With some manufacturers operating at a loss, the scope for price declines is limited.
Market Outlook:
Trading in the potassium sulfate market is sluggish, and domestic potash prices are expected to exhibit a fluctuating, slightly bearish trend in the short term.
