Macroeconomics

1. [Anti-dumping Duties] Pursuant to Article 50 of the *Anti-dumping Regulations*, the Ministry of Commerce recommended to the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council that anti-dumping measures be continued, based on the investigation findings. Acting on this recommendation, the Commission decided to continue imposing anti-dumping duties on imports of single-mode optical fiber originating from India for a period of five years, effective August 14, 2026.

2. [US Tariffs] The White House announced on the 13th that President Trump signed a proclamation imposing ad valorem tariffs ranging from 10% to 100% on imported drones and their components, citing national security threats. Specifically, a 10% tariff applies to drones from the UK; a 15% tariff applies to drones and components from the EU, Japan, and South Korea; and a 15% tariff applies to drones from the EU, Japan, and Switzerland.

3. [US PPI] The US Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 4.7% year-on-year in July, below the estimated 4.9% and the previous reading of 5.5%. Month-on-month, the US PPI remained flat in July, missing the forecast of a 0.2% increase.

Agricultural Products

1. [White Sugar] China's sugar production for the 2026/27 marketing year is projected at 12.93 million tons, remaining largely flat compared to the 12.95 million tons estimated for 2025/26. Imports are forecast at 4.80 million tons (down 200,000 tons year-on-year), while consumption is expected to reach 15.73 million tons (an increase of only 30,000 tons).

2. [White Sugar] In July 2026, Brazil exported 2.99 million tons of sugar, a year-on-year decrease of 16.7% (compared to 3.59 million tons in the same period last year). Cumulative sugar exports from Brazil for January–July 2026 totaled 15.30 million tons, down 7.3% year-on-year.

3. [Soybeans] According to the USDA: For the week ending August 6, US net soybean export sales for the 2025/2026 marketing year totaled 75,000 tons (up from 32,000 tons the previous week), while net sales for the 2026/2027 marketing year reached 1.76 million tons (up from 904,000 tons the previous week).

4. [Rapeseed Meal] The USDA's August oilseeds report projects global rapeseed meal production for the 2026/27 marketing year at 53.684 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.746 million tons; ending stocks are forecast at 1.76 million tons, up 142,000 tons year-on-year.

5. [Rapeseed] The USDA's August oilseeds report projects global rapeseed production for the 2026/27 marketing year at 98.094 million tonnes, up 2.418 million tonnes year-on-year; ending stocks are forecast at 12.002 million tonnes, an increase of 0.735 million tonnes year-on-year.

6. [Rapeseed Oil] The USDA's August oilseeds report projects global rapeseed oil production for the 2026/27 marketing year at 37.595 million tonnes, up 1.251 million tonnes year-on-year; ending stocks are forecast at 3.41 million tonnes, down 0.121 million tonnes year-on-year.

7. [Palm Oil] The Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) reported that India's palm oil imports in July totaled 730,965 tonnes, an increase of approximately 50% from the previous month. Soybean oil imports rose 31% month-on-month to 498,881 tonnes, while sunflower oil imports increased by about 4% to 251,639 tonnes. India's total vegetable oil imports for July stood at 1.53 million tonnes, up 33% from the previous month.

8. [Palm Oil] Data from the Southern Peninsular Palm Oil Millers' Association (SPPOMA) indicates that for the period of August 1–5, 2026, Malaysia's palm oil yield fell 9.3% compared to the same period the previous month; the oil extraction rate rose by 0.18 percentage points, and total production declined by 8.35%.

9. [Corn] The National Association of Grain Exporters of Brazil (ANEC) estimated Brazil's corn exports for August 2026 at 5.17 million tonnes. While this is higher than the 4.00 million tonnes forecast a week earlier, it remains nearly 30% lower than the 7.34 million tonnes exported during the same period last year. Brazil's corn exports in July totaled 2.86 million tonnes, a 28.0% decrease from the 3.97 million tonnes exported in July of the previous year. 10. [Corn] Ukraine's Ministry of Agriculture reported that, as of July 31, 2026, the country's grain exports for the 2026/27 marketing year (which began in July) totaled 2.95 million tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%. Of this total, wheat exports stood at 1.24 million tonnes (down 18.3% year-on-year), corn exports at 1.38 million tonnes (up 66.4%), and barley exports at 0.33 million tonnes (down 28.1%).
