According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of August 11, 2026, the reference price for n-butanol in the Shandong region was 6,983 RMB/ton; compared to August 1 (when the reference price was 7,016 RMB/ton), the price had decreased by 33 yuan, a drop of 0.48%.
Price trend data
Data from the SunSirs monitoring system indicates that the n-butanol market in Shandong experienced a slight decline in early August before stabilizing at a low level. From August 1 to 6, prices fluctuated within a narrow range amidst a relatively quiet market. On August 7, major manufacturers in Shandong lowered their ex-factory prices by 100 RMB/ton; this move drove the overall market price level downward, after which the market continued to consolidate at the lower range. As of August 11, the reference market price for n-butanol in Shandong stood at approximately 6,850-7,100 RMB/ton.
Fundamentals
Regarding costs: In early August, the market price of propylene—an upstream raw material for n-butanol—rose, leading to an increase in production costs. This provided a degree of cost support, limiting the extent of any price decline for n-butanol.
Regarding demand: Market demand for n-butanol remains cautious; downstream buyers are largely limiting purchases to immediate needs or buying only when prices are low, resulting in lackluster overall trading activity.
Regarding supply: The overall operating rate of the n-butanol market has seen a gradual decline, leading to a slight contraction in total supply; market dynamics reflect a situation of weak supply and weak demand.
Market Outlook:
Currently, trading activity for n-butanol is subdued, and a wait-and-see sentiment is intensifying. Although cost support exists, the transmission of market dynamics from the supply-demand side has provided limited impetus, with most market inquiries concentrated at the lower end of the price range. In the short term, n-butanol prices are expected to fluctuate within a consolidated range; future trends will largely depend on operating rates in downstream industries and shifts in supply-demand fundamentals.
