SunSirs: With Limited Support, Potassium Sulfate Prices Fell

August 10 2026 14:02:32     SunSirs (John)

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of potassium sulfate (50% content) was 4,040 RMB/ton at the beginning of last week and 4,033 RMB/ton at the end of the week, representing a decline of 0.17%.

Last week, the potassium sulfate market saw sluggish prices; ex-factory prices for 52% powder (including fully water-soluble grades) stood at approximately 4,250–4,300 RMB/ton, while delivered/ex-factory prices for resource-based 50% powder were around 3,700–3,850 RMB/ton. Overall, the domestic market was characterized by loose supply-demand dynamics, with slight price declines in some regions. The market is currently caught in a tug-of-war between cost support and weak demand; trading activity remains subdued, and there is significant room for price negotiation in actual transactions.

Demand side: The market is currently in the off-season for summer fertilizer application, and demand for autumn stockpiling has yet to materialize in earnest. Operating rates at downstream compound fertilizer plants have fallen short of expectations, providing limited fundamental support for potassium sulfate demand. Downstream enterprises are primarily purchasing on an as-needed basis and show little inclination for large-scale restocking, resulting in sluggish overall market trading; some companies are offering undisclosed price concessions to stimulate sales.

Forecast: Trading in the potassium sulfate market is sluggish; domestic potash prices are expected to exhibit a fluctuating, slightly bearish trend in the short term.
