The average market price was 26,900 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month and 33,100 RMB/ton at the end of the month, representing an increase of 23.05% for the month and a 19.93% rise compared to the same period last year. (Note: The cycle spans from September 1, 2011, to the present.)

Market analysis

Market Trends This Month: Bromine prices have been on a continuous upward trajectory. In the Shandong region, market prices have risen, with current ex-works prices hovering between 32,000 and 34,000 RMB/ton; operating rates in the industry have declined due to weather conditions, resulting in reduced supply. Actual trading volume remains sluggish, with a prevailing "wait-and-see" sentiment. Regarding demand, downstream requirements remain modest, with purchasing limited to immediate needs.

Raw Materials: Domestic sulfur prices trended upward overall this week. The average market price rose from 9,002.33 RMB/ton at the start of the week to 9,185.67 RMB/ton by the weekend—an increase of 2.04% for the week and a 271.14% rise compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand remains steady.

Market outlook

Bromine prices have recently been trending upward, driven by rising upstream sulfur costs and low overall operating rates among bromine producers. While downstream buyers remain cautious, the interplay between supply and demand suggests that prices will likely continue to rise, though the extent will depend on downstream market demand.
