SunSirs: Prices of Potassium Sulfate Fell During the Off-Season for Demand
July 17 2026 15:36:08     SunSirs (John)
Price trend
According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of potassium sulfate (50% content) was 4,083 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 4,076 RMB/ton at the weekend, representing a decline of 0.16%.
Market analysis
The market price of potassium sulfate remained weak this week. The delivered price for Qinghai 50% powdered potassium sulfate was 3,700-3,900 RMB/ton; the ex-factory price for Mannheim-process 52% powdered potassium sulfate was 3,860-3,980 RMB/ton, while that for 52% fully water-soluble powdered potassium sulfate was 4,300-4,350 RMB/ton. Due to the off-season for downstream demand, overall trading was sluggish, and prices trended downward.
Regarding costs, potassium sulfate production relies on sulfur; recent high sulfur prices have placed significant cost pressure on processors, limiting room for price reductions while they operate at a loss and thereby supporting high price levels. However, due to sluggish downstream market conditions, compound fertilizer plants are restocking only in small, as-needed quantities without placing large orders; combined with the fact that stocking for autumn fertilizers has not yet ramped up, overall demand remains weak.
Market outlook
Trading activity in the potassium sulfate market has fallen short of expectations; domestic potash prices are expected to exhibit a fluctuating, slightly bearish trend in the short term.
