SunSirs: Domestic Butyl Acetate Prices Trended Downward in June
July 09 2026 14:25:50     SunSirs (John)
Price trend
According to data from SunSirs, the price of butyl acetate declined in June; the price stood at 6,962.50 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month and 6,650 RMB/ton at the end, marking a decrease of 312.50 RMB/ton—a drop of 4.49%—over the course of the month.
Market Analysis:
The domestic butyl acetate market trended downward in June. On the supply side, production units operated steadily, resulting in ample market availability; facing increased inventory pressure, producers lowered their quotes to boost sales. Regarding raw materials, although acetic acid prices rebounded after halting their decline, this provided limited support for butyl acetate, and market sentiment remained distinctly bearish. Meanwhile, n-butanol prices fell sharply, weakening cost-side support; consequently, a pessimistic outlook among butyl acetate manufacturers drove prices to continuously drift lower.
Cost side: Prices for the raw material acetic acid saw a slight overall increase, while n-butanol prices fell sharply; bearish factors dominated the cost landscape. With downstream sectors entering the off-season, buying interest was low and actual transaction volumes were limited. Market sentiment turned bearish, weighing on the outlook for butyl acetate.
Market outlook
As of the end of June, the price of the upstream feedstock n-butanol remained low, offering insufficient cost support, while stable acetic acid prices provided little boost to butyl acetate. With a lack of positive market drivers and a clear imbalance of strong supply against weak demand, the butyl acetate market is expected to undergo a period of sluggish consolidation; future trends will depend on the pricing strategies of producers regarding acetic acid, n-butanol, and ethyl acetate.
