According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's output of rubber tire casings reached 107.309 million units in May 2026, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%.
Natural rubber is a core raw material for tire production; the 4.6% year-on-year rise in domestic tire casing output in May has significantly boosted demand. On June 22, the closing price for the natural rubber benchmark contract (2609) stood at 17,845 RMB/tonne, with open interest increasing by 3,628 lots month-on-month; strong market trading sentiment provided upward support for both spot and futures prices.
Butadiene rubber is another key raw material for tire manufacturing, and the growth in tire output has improved demand expectations. The closing price for the butadiene rubber benchmark contract (2609) was 12,955 RMB/tonne on June 22—up 80 RMB/tonne from the previous trading day—indicating upward price momentum.
Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is a commonly used raw material in tire production; the year-on-year increase in domestic tire output in May has benefited SBR demand, providing positive support for its price.
