SunSirs: China Rapeseed Meal Prices Rise Slightly but Face Overall Downward Pressure

According to data from SunSirs, the average market price of rapeseed meal was 2,344 RMB/ton on June 8 and rose to 2,366 RMB/ton on June 12, an increase of 0.94%.
A surge in imported rapeseed arrivals has led to higher operating rates at coastal oil plants and a continued rise in rapeseed meal production. Coupled with the market entry of new domestic rapeseed, overall supply has become more plentiful. Short-term supply pressure is significant, and the increased volume of available stock will continue to weigh on prices.
The aquaculture industry has entered its traditional peak season, providing some baseline demand support for rapeseed meal. However, the narrow price spread between soybean meal and rapeseed meal gives soybean meal a clear substitution advantage, diverting some purchasing demand.
While Canadian rapeseed prices find a floor due to slow planting progress, strong expectations for a bumper global harvest limit the potential for upward movement. Weak domestic soybean meal prices are also dragging down sentiment across the broader meal market.
In the short term, rapeseed meal prices are expected to remain weak and volatile, facing significant resistance to any rebound.
