Macroeconomics

1. [US PPI] Data released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 1.1% month-on-month in May, exceeding the market expectation of 0.7%; year-on-year, it rose 6.5%, marking the highest level since November 2022.

2. [ECB Rate Hike] On June 11 (local time), the European Central Bank announced a 25-basis-point hike for each of its three key interest rates in the Eurozone. Consequently, the deposit facility rate, the main refinancing operations rate, and the marginal lending facility rate stand at 2.25%, 2.40%, and 2.65%, respectively.

Plastics and Rubber

1. [Rubber & Plastics] On June 11, Lianyungang Petrochemical shut down its Phase I low-pressure polyethylene unit (restart time TBD), while the Phase II low-pressure unit is producing the FS7000 grade.

2. [PE] As of June 10, 2026, sampled inventory levels among Chinese polyethylene producers stood at 469,300 tonnes, a decrease of 9,100 tonnes (or 1.90%) from the previous period.

3. [Natural Rubber] On June 11, market prices for natural rubber raw materials in Thailand showed mixed trends: ribbed smoked sheets (RSS) remained stable at 94.50 THB/kg; field latex rose by 0.25 THB/kg to 88.00 THB/kg; and cup lump fell by 0.20 THB/kg to 74.80 THB/kg.

4. [Tires] Latest data shows that US tire imports totaled 93.07 million units in the first four months of 2026, down 4.2% year-on-year. Specifically, passenger car tire imports fell 3% to 55.74 million units; truck and bus tire imports dropped 9% to 19.54 million units; aircraft tire imports rose 19% to 107,000 units; motorcycle tire imports declined 4% to 1.21 million units; and bicycle tire imports increased 20% to 2.53 million units.
