On June 11, sugar producers and distributors in Guangzhou quoted prices between 5,260 and 5,320 RMB/tonne, a decrease of 20 RMB/tonne from the previous day. By the end of May, cumulative sugar sales in Guangxi totaled 4.4902 million tonnes, down 155,100 tonnes year-on-year.
Regarding the spot market, the price range quoted by Guangzhou sugar producers and distributors on June 11 was 5,260–5,320 RMB/tonne, down 20 RMB/tonne from June 10. Cumulative sales in Guangxi reached 4.4902 million tonnes by the end of May—a year-on-year decline of 155,100 tonnes—with downstream consumption falling short of expectations, a factor weighing on spot prices. In the futures market, the closing price for the benchmark white sugar contract (2609) on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE) was 5,314 RMB/tonne on June 10, down 16 RMB/tonne. Open interest rose by 12,935 lots, signaling a short-term bearish trend and putting pressure on futures prices.
