SunSirs: Weekly China PE Production Sees Slight Month-on-Month Increase

June 08 2026 13:47:06     SunSirs (Selena)

According to SunSirs (June 8), polyethylene production for the current period (May 29–June 4) totaled 646,700 tonnes, marking a 1.35% increase from the previous week.

Polyethylene production rose by 1.35% this period; the resulting increase in supply exerted downward pressure on LLDPE spot prices. On June 5, the settlement price for the dominant LLDPE futures contract (2609) on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) closed at 7,916 RMB/tonne—down 18 RMB/tonne from the previous trading day—while open interest increased by 10,144 lots. This reflects a bearish market outlook regarding the supply increase, keeping LLDPE futures under pressure in the short term.

Overall polyethylene production rose by 1.35% this period. As a major polyethylene grade, LDPE also saw increased supply, placing downward pressure on spot prices; related futures tracked the broader polyethylene market's weakness, trading with a bearish bias in the short term.

Polyethylene production increased by 1.35% this period, leading to a corresponding rise in HDPE supply and a bearish impact on spot prices. Related futures followed the trend of the dominant polyethylene contract, with prices facing downward pressure in the short term.
