SunSirs: With the Market Under Significant Pressure, Hydrofluoric Acid Prices Were Lowered

The hydrofluoric acid market is under significant pressure, and pricing for new orders in June has been lowered. According to data from SunSirs' monitoring and analysis system, as of May 28, the benchmark price for hydrofluoric acid stood at 15,900 RMB/ton—a decline of 1.65% compared to the beginning of the month.

Raw Materials: Prices for the raw material fluorspar have softened slightly, while sulfuric acid prices remain at relatively high levels. Overall, with one key raw material holding steady and the other weakening recently, cost-side support is showing signs of marginal loosening; consequently, cost support for hydrofluoric acid has diminished, leading to a slight downward adjustment in its price. According to data from the SunSirs analysis system, as of May 28, the SunSirs benchmark price for fluorspar stood at 3,468.75 RMB/ton—a decrease of 1.42% compared to the beginning of the month (3,518.75 RMB/ton).

Demand Side: Downstream refrigerant manufacturers have generally adopted a slower pace of procurement, exerting limited upward pressure on hydrofluoric acid prices. Their primary focus remains on maintaining production equilibrium, with purchasing activity largely limited to small-volume orders driven by immediate, essential needs.

Market Outlook:

Cost support from raw materials is weakening, while downstream demand remains sluggish—characterized primarily by essential, need-based purchasing—thereby diminishing support from the demand side. Consequently, anhydrous hydrogen fluoride prices are expected to trend toward stability with a slight downward bias in the near term. Future market developments will depend largely on shifts in supply and demand dynamics.
