SunSirs: Viscose Staple Fibers Showed a Stable Operating Trend on May 28, 2026

Price trend

On May 28, 2026, the average domestic market price for 1.2D (38mm) viscose staple fiber stood at 14,060 RMB/ton, remaining unchanged from the previous business day. Throughout the monitoring period, prices maintained a stable trajectory, exhibiting no upward or downward fluctuations.

Reasons for Price Stability

Limited Cost-Side Support: The market for dissolving pulp—the primary raw material—remains largely stable; the cost landscape currently lacks any significant upward or downward drivers, resulting in only a weak influence—whether bullish or bearish—on the pricing of viscose staple fiber.

Supply-Side Inventory Pressure Remains Moderate: Overall inventory levels within the market are not high. Producers are primarily focused on fulfilling and shipping previously secured orders; consequently, there is currently no significant incentive to either lower prices to clear stock or withhold sales to drive prices higher.

Demand-Side Follow-Through Remains Steady: Downstream enterprises are primarily engaging in procurement on an "as-needed" basis. The pace of follow-through for essential demand remains stable, and the overall rate of market turnover is steady. With no significant tug-of-war currently taking place between suppliers and buyers, prices have remained stable.

Market outlook

In the short term, the viscose staple fiber market currently lacks clear driving factors for either price increases or decreases. On the cost side, the dissolving pulp market is not expected to experience any significant fluctuations; meanwhile, on the supply side, low inventory levels will continue to bolster manufacturers' resolve to maintain firm pricing. As for downstream demand, activity is expected to remain driven primarily by essential consumption, with a low probability of any substantial surge in volume. Consequently, viscose staple fiber prices are highly likely to maintain their current stable trajectory in the near term; market participants should continue to closely monitor price movements in the raw material—dissolving pulp—as well as the pace of downstream demand uptake.
