May 25 2026 09:29:41     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, bromine prices remained stable last week. From the beginning to the end of the week, the average market price stood at 37,800 RMB/ton, representing a 57.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

On May 21, the SunSirs Bromine Index registered 132.63 points, remaining unchanged from the previous day. This figure represents a 46.16% decline from the cycle's peak of 246.32 (recorded on April 7, 2026) and a 125.10% increase from the cycle's low of 58.92 (recorded on October 29, 2014). (Note: The cycle period covers September 1, 2011, to the present.)

Market Analysis

Last week, bromine prices remained relatively stable. The bromine market in the Shandong region underwent a period of consolidation; manufacturers' reference prices hovered between 37,000 and 38,000 RMB/ton, though actual transaction volumes were weak, reflecting a strong wait-and-see sentiment among market participants. Operating rates within the bromine industry continued to rise, leading to a gradual replenishment of spot market supplies. Regarding demand, however, downstream industries exhibited only moderate activity, continuing to limit their purchasing to immediate, essential requirements.

Regarding raw materials: Domestic sulfur prices trended downward overall last week. The average market price stood at 7,633.33 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 7,500 RMB/ton by the weekend—a decline of 1.09%, yet still representing a 203.99% increase compared to the same period last year. Downstream buyers primarily engaged in procurement on an as-needed basis.

Market outlook

Bromine prices have recently been undergoing a period of consolidation. Upstream sulfur prices have trended lower, while bromine supply has gradually begun to recover. However, downstream buyers are largely adhering to a "buy-on-demand" strategy; consequently, market sentiment regarding bromine remains cautious and wait-and-see, resulting in a generally sluggish trading atmosphere characterized by a standoff between supply and demand. Overall, it is anticipated that bromine prices will continue to consolidate on the weak side in the near term, with specific price movements ultimately dependent on downstream market demand.
