SunSirs: Analysis of China's Caustic Soda Import and Export Data: January–March 2026

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, China's imports of caustic soda amounted to 1,200 tons in March; of this total, imports of solid caustic soda stood at 1,100 tons, while imports of liquid caustic soda stood at 100 tons. For the period from January to March 2026, China's cumulative imports of caustic soda reached 2,800 tons—a year-on-year increase of 54.84%—with cumulative imports of solid caustic soda totaling 2,700 tons and cumulative imports of liquid caustic soda totaling 100 tons.

In March 2026, China's exports of caustic soda amounted to 444,000 tons; specifically, exports of solid caustic soda totaled 75,000 tons, while exports of liquid caustic soda reached 369,000 tons. For the period from January to March 2026, China's cumulative caustic soda exports reached 1.0682 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 11.59%. Within this total, cumulative exports of solid caustic soda stood at 220,800 tons—a year-on-year surge of 91.72%—while cumulative exports of liquid caustic soda amounted to 847,400 tons, marking a year-on-year rise of 0.63%.

From January to March 2026, the primary destinations for China's liquid caustic soda exports were Australia, Indonesia, and Taiwan (China); exports to these three regions accounted for 48.1%, 29.97%, and 6.65% of the total export volume, respectively. During the same period, the top three destinations for China's solid caustic soda exports were Indonesia, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan, accounting for 11.31%, 8.99%, and 6.06% of the total, respectively.
