SunSirs: China's Imports of Linerboard Surge Month-over-Month in March 2026
May 07 2026 10:13:04     SunSirs (Selena)
In March 2026, China's imports of linerboard totaled 454,900 tons—an increase of 194,200 tons compared to the previous month, representing a growth rate of 74.51%. For the first quarter of 2026 (January–March), total imports amounted to 1.1608 million tons; this figure marks a decrease of 174,100 tons—or 13.04%—compared to the same period in the previous year.
With domestic linerboard imports reaching 454,900 tons in March 2026—a month-over-month surge of 74.51%—the short-term supply of imported material has clearly increased, thereby exerting downward pressure on domestic spot prices for linerboard. However, the cumulative import volume
for the January–March period declined by 13.04% year-over-year; as overall supply remains contracted relative to the previous year, this factor serves to offset some of the bearish market impact. Consequently, the overall market sentiment is considered moderately bearish.
