Rare Earth Market Update, 23 April 2026:
According to data from the Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange, the rare earth market analysis indicates that prices for mainstream rare earth products fell across the board today. The average price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide stood at RMB 768,200 per ton, down RMB 50,900 per ton; the average price of praseodymium-neodymium metal was RMB 950,800 per ton, down RMB 43,500 per ton; the average price of dysprosium oxide stood at RMB 1.3779 million per ton, down by RMB 0.04 million per ton; the average price of terbium oxide was RMB 6.1013 million per ton, down by RMB 0.20 million per ton. There was limited transaction data today for products such as praseodymium oxide, neodymium oxide, europium oxide, lanthanum-cerium oxide and neodymium metal; please exercise caution when using this information. Praseodymium-neodymium oxide prices plummeted sharply in today’s market, surpassing the year’s largest single-day drop recorded on 10 March. This triggered panic-driven mass selling by traders, further intensifying a wait-and-see attitude among downstream buyers, and significantly increasing the difficulty of transacting praseodymium-neodymium metal. In the afternoon, some traders attempted to restock small quantities at low levels, driving sporadic transactions and causing prices to temporarily stabilize. Prices for medium and heavy rare earths have also fallen as a result, though overall trading volumes remain limited and the impact has been relatively minor. During this period of sharp price volatility, various false or unverified rumors have circulated in the market. We advise all traders to exercise caution, refrain from placing undue trust in information from unofficial sources, and base price assessments on the fundamentals of supply and demand. A rational evaluation of inventory levels and order patterns is recommended, as the market is expected to remain in a weak, volatile state in the short term.
