SunSirs: Analysis of China's Caustic Soda Import and Export Data: January–February 2026

According to the latest customs statistics, in January 2026, China's imports of caustic soda amounted to 1,230 tons; specifically, imports of solid caustic soda totaled 1,200 tons, while imports of liquid caustic soda totaled 30 tons. In February, China's caustic soda imports stood at 420 tons, comprising 400 tons of solid caustic soda and 20 tons of liquid caustic soda. For the period from January to February 2026, China's cumulative caustic soda imports reached 1,650 tons—a year-on-year increase of 35.25%—with cumulative imports of solid caustic soda totaling 1,600 tons and cumulative imports of liquid caustic soda totaling 50 tons.

In January 2026, China's caustic soda export volume totaled 349,900 tons; of this, solid caustic soda exports amounted to 79,000 tons, while liquid caustic soda exports reached 270,900 tons. In February, China's caustic soda export volume stood at 276,400 tons, comprising 66,800 tons of solid caustic soda and 209,600 tons of liquid caustic soda. For the period from January to February 2026, China's cumulative caustic soda exports reached 626,300 tons, representing a year-on-year decrease of 6.07%. Within this total, cumulative exports of solid caustic soda amounted to 145,800 tons—a year-on-year increase of 107.99%—while cumulative exports of liquid caustic soda totaled 480,500 tons, a year-on-year decline of 19.47%.

In January and February 2026, China's primary export destinations for liquid caustic soda were Australia, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia, accounting for 38.84%, 35.15%, and 8.37% of total exports, respectively. During the same period, the top three destinations for China's solid caustic soda exports were Indonesia, Vietnam, and Brazil, with respective shares reaching 11.36%, 7.69%, and 6.84%..
