Shennong Group released the main operating data of its breeding business for March. In March 2026, the company sold 316,600 commercial pigs, a year-on-year increase of 28.13% (including 44,500 commercial pigs sold to internal slaughter enterprises within the group). The sales revenue of commercial pigs was 409 million RMB, a year-on-year decrease of 9.91%. The average selling price of commercial pigs was 9.82 RMB/kg, a decrease of 12.32% compared to the previous period.
The article shows that the average sales price of live pigs in March 2026 was 9.82 RMB/kg, a month on month decrease of 12.32%, a year-on-year increase of 28.13% in sales volume but a year-on-year decrease of 9.91% in revenue, indicating oversupply in the spot market, weak demand, and downward pressure on prices. Based on the data of pig futures, the main contracts such as 2605 (closing price of 9,380 RMB/ton, down 175 points) and 2607 (closing price of 10,400 RMB/ton, down 205 points) have generally fallen in price, and changes in holdings indicate a bearish market sentiment, strengthening downward expectations. Due to significant month on month declines and simultaneous weakening of futures, short-term prices may continue to be under pressure.
