April 01 2026 11:06:32     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, the price of sodium bicarbonate trended upward this month. The average market price stood at 1,190 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month and reached approximately 1,240 RMB/ton by the end of the month—a price increase of 4.2%, though still down 17.66% year-on-year.

On March 30, the SunSirs sodium bicarbonate Index registered 82.30 points, an increase of 0.83 points from the previous day. This figure represents a 65.10% decline from the cycle's peak of 235.84 points (recorded on November 10, 2021) and a 5.31% increase from the cycle's low of 78.15 points (recorded on January 15, 2026). (Note: The cycle period covers September 1, 2020, to the present.)

Market analysis

According to data from SunSirs' commodity analysis system, the market for sodium bicarbonate was temporarily on an upward trend, with manufacturers reporting satisfactory shipment volumes. Prices for sodium bicarbonate in the Henan region were consolidating; ex-factory prices in Henan ranged from 1,100 to 1,200 RMB/ton, while ex-factory prices in the Shandong region ranged from 1,150 to 1,250 RMB/ton. As downstream buyers were largely purchasing on an "as-needed" basis, the market is expected to remain primarily in a consolidation phase in the near future.

Raw Materials: According to monitoring data from SunSirs, soda ash prices trended upward during March. The average market price for light soda ash stood at 1,188 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month and rose to approximately 1,212 RMB/ton by the end of the month—a price increase of 2.02%, though still down 17.55% compared to the same period last year.

Market outlook

Analysts at SunSirs observe that the price of sodium bicarbonate has recently been on an upward trend. Regarding upstream raw materials, the soda ash market performed generally strongly throughout February. Downstream sectors—including pharmaceuticals, textiles, and food—have recently been purchasing primarily on an "as-needed" basis, resulting in only moderate demand enthusiasm. Amidst this interplay between supply and demand, the overall forecast suggests that sodium bicarbonate prices will primarily experience fluctuating movements in the near term, with specific price trends ultimately dependent on downstream market demand.
