Price trend
According to monitoring by the SunSirs’ Commodity Price Analysis System, as of March 24, 2026, the domestic ex-factory price for 1.2D (38mm) viscose staple fiber was quoted at 13,180 RMB/ton, while the average market price stood at 13,200 RMB/ton—remaining unchanged from the previous business day.
Judging by recent trends, since late February, the price of viscose staple fiber has broken out of its previous low-level consolidation phase and entered a channel of steady upward growth: on March 4, it was quoted at 12,840 RMB/ton; by March 14, it had risen to 13,040 RMB/ton—a single-day increase of 1.09%. On March 24, it climbed further to 13,180 RMB/ton, marking a cumulative increase of 380 RMB/ton—or approximately 2.97%—from the February low of 12,800 RMB/ton.
Market analysis
Cost Side: The market for dissolving pulp—the primary raw material—remained firm, providing a degree of cost support for viscose staple fiber; manufacturers demonstrated a strong inclination to maintain current price levels.
Supply Side: Inventory levels across various viscose staple fiber manufacturers were generally low; supply remained stable, and there was temporarily no significant pressure on the market.
Demand Side: Downstream enterprises were primarily focused on drawing down their existing raw material inventories; the pace of new order placement remained relatively slow. Overall cargo movement within the market remained steady, and the demand side had not yet shown any significant uptick in volume.
Market Outlook:
According to an analysis by SunSirs, the viscose staple fiber market is expected to maintain a stable trajectory in the short term. Current price fluctuations within the market remain limited, as cost-side support contends with lackluster demand. Moving forward, key attention should be focused on the pace at which downstream spinning mills place new orders; should downstream demand pick up, it would provide further upward support for viscose staple fiber prices; conversely, if demand remains persistently weak, prices are likely to continue trending sideways within a narrow range.
