SunSirs: Domestic Xylene Market Trading Update for Selected Regions on March 12

March 13 2026 10:54:08     SunSirs (John)

On March 12, the benchmark price for xylene, as reported by SunSirs, stood at 6,862.50 RMB/ton—an increase of 21.03% compared to the beginning of the month (5,670.00 RMB/ton).

On March 12, the mainstream price range for xylene in the Shandong region stood at 7,300–7,350 RMB/ton—an increase of 500 RMB/ton compared to the average price of the previous trading day. Ex-factory prices among the province's major local refineries saw widespread increases today, with some manufacturers holding back inventory and temporarily suspending shipments. On March 11, prices for toluene and xylene fluctuated within a narrow range; however, driven overnight by a rise in crude oil futures and a sharp surge in aromatics on the night session, spot market prices opened higher today. Holders of inventory displayed a strong reluctance to sell, while a wait-and-see sentiment prevailed, resulting in sluggish market trading activity. Given the current lack of clarity regarding the international geopolitical situation—compounded by tight supply in the domestic market—the spot market is expected to remain volatile in the near term, and bullish sentiment within the market has once again intensified.

On March 12, the prevailing spot price range for xylene in the East China region stood between 7,700 and 7,730 RMB/ton. Yesterday, prices for toluene and xylene fluctuated within a narrow range; however, driven overnight by a rise in crude oil futures and a sharp surge in aromatics on the night session, spot market prices trended upward at today's opening. Holders demonstrated a strong reluctance to sell, while a wait-and-see sentiment prevailed, resulting in sluggish market trading activity. With the international geopolitical situation remaining unclear—compounded by currently tight domestic supply—the spot market is expected to continue experiencing fluctuations in the near term, as bullish sentiment within the market heats up once again.
