SunSirs: Malaysia's Natural Rubber Production Decreased on a Month on Month Basis in January Compared to the Same Period Last Year

According to the Malaysian Bureau of Statistics on March 12th, the export volume of natural rubber in January 2026 decreased by 5.3% year-on-year to 41,983 tons, with a month on month increase of 30.6%. Among them, 40.3% are exported to China, followed by 15.2% from the United Arab Emirates, 13.6% from Germany, 5.6% from the United States, and 3.6% from Brazil.

In January, the import volume of Malaysian natural rubber was 98,187 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.5% and a month on month increase of 35%. Standard rubber, concentrated latex, and other shaped natural rubber are the main import categories, with their main source countries being Thailand, Cote d'Ivoire, the Philippines, Myanmar, and others.

The total monitored production of Tianjian in January was 28,579 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.9% and a month on month decrease of 0.4%. Among them, the output of small plantations accounts for 87.6%, and the output of state-owned plantations accounts for 12.4%.

In January, Malaysia's natural rubber inventory was 133,042 tons, an increase of 9.3% compared to the previous month. 80.5% of the inventory is concentrated in the hands of rubber processors, with downstream terminal inventory accounting for 19.3% and large plantation owner inventory accounting for 0.1%.

In January, the total consumption of natural rubber in China increased by 2.9% year-on-year to 22,579 tons, a decrease of 9% compared to the previous month. The latex glove industry remains the main force in Malaysia's natural rubber consumption, accounting for 67.1%, tires and rubber hoses accounting for 8.2%, rubber threads accounting for 14.1%, and other industries accounting for 10.6%.
