SunSirs: China Sugar Prices Fluctuated and Rose Last Week (March 2-6)

According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the average price of first grade white sugar in China was 5,316 RMB/ton at the beginning of last week, and 5,323 RMB/ton over the weekend, with a price increase of 0.13%.
Domestically, with the rebound of futures market prices, confidence in the sugar market has been effectively boosted, and downstream terminal demand for replenishment has been gradually released. Currently, sugar production groups in sugar producing areas are strengthening their quotations, and spot transactions are recovering accordingly.
Internationally, as of the second half of January in the 2025/26 crushing season, the cumulative crushing volume in the central and southern regions of Brazil was 601.644 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.286 million tons, a decrease of 2.16%. As of February 14th, during the 2025/26 crushing season, 80 sugar mills across the country have stopped crushing, leaving 454 sugar mills operating; Accumulated sugarcane crushing capacity of 241.959 million tons; Accumulated sugar production was 22.53 million tons, an increase of 2.75 million tons or 13.9% compared to the same period last year's 19.78 million tons.
In March, the domestic sugar market entered a peak in inventory, and spot prices were under significant pressure against the backdrop of the traditional off-season for consumption. In the short term, it is expected that white sugar will mainly fluctuate and weaken.
