SunSirs: Prices of Livestock Products and Feed in Wholesale Markets in the 4th Week of February

According to the monitoring of 500 county-level agricultural markets and collection points across the country, in the 4th week of February (with the collection date being February 26), the prices of piglets and commercial baby chicks rose month-on-month, while the prices of live pigs, pork, eggs, chicken, beef, and mutton sheep fell month-on-month. The prices of live cattle, fresh milk, and feed products remained unchanged month-on-month.

Prices of live pig products. The national average price of piglets was 27.67 RMB per kilogram, up 0.1% from the previous week and down 24.2% year-on-year. The prices of piglets rose in 14 provinces and regions including Jilin, Shanxi, Anhui, Ningxia and Jiangxi, while falling in 11 provinces and regions including Fujian, Tianjin, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Hunan. The prices remained unchanged in 4 provinces and regions including Shandong, Sichuan, Gansu and Xinjiang. The price in South China was relatively high, at 30.02 RMB per kilogram; the price in North China was relatively low, at 26.08 RMB per kilogram. The national average price of live pigs was 12.45 RMB per kilogram, down 1.3% from the previous week and 20.3% year-on-year. The prices of live pigs fell in 29 provinces and regions including Guangxi, Shanghai, Hubei, Liaoning and Tianjin, and remained unchanged in Inner Mongolia. The price in Southwest China was relatively high, at 13.40 RMB per kilogram; the price in Northeast China was relatively low, at 11.76 RMB per kilogram. The national average price of pork was 23.53 RMB per kilogram, down 0.8% from the previous week and 12.4% year-on-year. The prices of pork rose in 5 provinces and regions including Beijing, Xinjiang, Guangdong, Hebei and Shaanxi, fell in 22 provinces and regions including Guangxi, Hainan, Tianjin, Jiangsu and Guizhou, and remained unchanged in Shanghai, Anhui and Gansu. The price in South China was relatively high, at 26.80 RMB per kilogram; the price in Northeast China was relatively low, at 19.78 RMB per kilogram.

Prices of poultry products. The national average price of eggs was 8.99 RMB per kilogram, down 0.9% from the previous week and 8.3% year-on-year. The price of eggs in 10 major producing provinces such as Hebei and Liaoning was 7.67 RMB per kilogram, down 1.8% from the previous week and 6.7% year-on-year. The national average price of chicken was 22.83 RMB per kilogram, down 0.3% from the previous week and 1.6% year-on-year. The average price of commercial layer chicks was 3.65 RMB per bird, up 0.6% from the previous week and 11.6% year-on-year. The average price of commercial broiler chicks was 3.37 RMB per bird, up 0.6% from the previous week and 0.9% year-on-year.

Prices of cattle and sheep products. The national average price of beef was 72.69 RMB per kilogram, down 0.2% from the previous week and up 11.8% year-on-year. The price of beef in 10 major producing provinces including Hebei and Inner Mongolia was 66.16 RMB per kilogram, down 0.2% from the previous week. The price of live cattle in major producing provinces was 26.99 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week, and up 18.5% year-on-year. The national average price of mutton was 73.84 RMB per kilogram, down 0.2% from the previous week and up 5.9% year-on-year. The price of mutton in 10 major producing provinces including Hebei and Inner Mongolia was 71.49 RMB per kilogram, down 0.2% from the previous week. The price of live sheep in major producing provinces was 31.12 RMB per kilogram, down 0.2% from the previous week and up 8.3% year-on-year.

Price of raw milk. The average price of raw milk in 10 major producing provinces including Inner Mongolia and Hebei was 3.03 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week, down 1.9% year-on-year.

Feed prices. The national average price of corn was 2.45 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week, up 6.1% year-on-year. The price of corn in the three northeastern provinces, the main producing areas, was 2.28 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week; the price of corn in Guangdong Province, a major consuming area, was 2.51 RMB per kilogram, down 0.4% from the previous week. The national average price of soybean meal was 3.32 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week, down 10.8% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for fattening pigs was 3.37 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week, down 0.9% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for broilers was 3.51 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week, down 0.6% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for laying hens was 3.23 RMB per kilogram, the same as the previous week and unchanged year-on-year.
