According to data from the SunSirs' commodity market analysis system, as of February 10, 2025, the reference price of n-butanol in Shandong, China, was 6,316 RMB/ton. Compared with February 6 (reference price of n-butanol was 6,533 RMB/ton), the price decreased by 217 RMB/ton, a drop of 3.32%. Compared with February 1 (reference price of n-butanol was 6,663 RMB/ton), the price decreased by 347 RMB/ton, a drop of 5.20%.

Negative factors pressured the price of n-butanol in Shandong, causing it to continue its downward trend.

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of n-butanol in Shandong, China, fluctuated and declined in early February. Entering this week, the market price of n-butanol continued to decline, with the focus of negotiations shifting towards lower prices. Major manufacturers lowered their n-butanol delivery prices, widening the price gap between high and low prices. The lowest market price fell to 6,050 RMB/ton. As of February 10, the reference price of n-butanol in Shandong was around 6,050-6,700 RMB/ton.

Analysis of core influencing factors

On the supply side:  As of February 10, the overall supply of n-butanol in Shandong was sufficient. Some major manufacturers in Shandong lowered their prices on February 9, which led to a decline in market prices.

On the demand side: Downstream industries such as coatings and plasticizers had nearly finished restocking before the Spring Festival, resulting in reduced purchasing enthusiasm and increased resistance to high-priced goods, leading to a slowdown in market transactions.

Market outlook

In the short term, before the Spring Festival, the n-butanol market is expected to continue its weak consolidation or range-bound trading pattern, with the trading center likely to continue its narrow downward trend. In the long term, after the holiday, the market needs to focus on the progress of downstream resumption of work and production, the price trend of raw material propylene, and the operating status of production facilities. If demand recovery falls short of expectations, prices will still face downward pressure.
