SunSirs: China's Pulp Imports Increase by 7.02% in 2025

According to statistics, China will import a total of 27.9364 million tons of pulp in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 7.02%. Among them, the cumulative import of bleaching needle pulp for the whole year was 8.625 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.55%; The cumulative import of bleaching pulp for the whole year was 16.9435 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.69%; The cumulative import of natural pulp for the whole year was 1.0935 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%; The cumulative import of chemical pulp for the whole year was 1.2745 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.19%.
The total import volume of pulp in China in 2025 increased by 7.02% year-on-year, with imports of bleached needle pulp, bleached wide pulp, and natural pulp increasing by 3.55%, 8.69%, and 13.8% respectively, indicating a steady expansion of terminal demand, especially in the packaging and printing industries, which is favorable for the upward trend of pulp spot prices. The reduction of 4.19% in the import of chemical pulp has limited impact. Based on the recent closing price of the main pulp futures contract (such as contract 2605) at 5,388 RMB/ton, with a rise and fall of +38, active trading volume and stable holdings, and bullish market sentiment, it is expected that the futures price will continue its moderate upward trend.
