SunSirs: China's Cotton Imports in 2025 Reach 1.07 Million Tons, Down 59.1% Year-on-Year

Data released by the General Administration of Customs on January 18 showed that China imported 180,000 tons of cotton in December, a year-on-year increase of 31%. Cumulative imports from January to December reached 1.07 million tons, down 59.1% year-on-year.
Customs statistics indicate that China imported 170,000 metric tons of cotton yarn in December 2025, a month-on-month increase of 20,000 metric tons (13.33%) and a year-on-year increase of 20,000 metric tons (13.33%). Cumulative cotton yarn imports from January to December 2025 totaled 1.5 million metric tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.32%.
