SunSirs: MTBE Global Prices Have Been Lowered Across the Board

January 08 2026 13:56:04     SunSirs (Selena)

On January 7th, the MTBE external market closed down: the closing price of the Asian MTBE market was $12.49/ton lower than the previous trading day, and FOB Singapore closed at $606.37-608.37/ton. The closing price of the European MTBE market decreased by $8/ton compared to the previous trading day, and FOB ARA closed at $690.99-691.49/ton. The closing price of the MTBE market in the United States decreased by $7.47 per ton compared to the previous trading day, and the FOB Gulf offshore price closed at $587.55-587.91 per ton (165.90-166.00 cents per gallon).

The article shows that MTBE has seen a decrease in closing prices in Asian, European, and American markets. Asia has lowered prices by $12.49/ton to $606.37-608.37/ton (FOB Singapore), Europe has lowered prices by $8/ton to $690.99-691.49/ton (FOB ARA), and the United States has lowered prices by $7.47/ton to $587.55-587.91/ton (FOB Gulf). This indicates that global oversupply or weak demand has a general negative impact on spot prices. The significant but non extreme price reduction may be driven by increased inventory or weakened downstream consumption, and it is expected that the short-term spot market will continue to be under pressure.
