January 07 2026 11:14:31     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to analysis from SunSirs'market monitoring system, on January 6, 2026, the domestic market price of silicon 441# was approximately 9,620 RMB/ton, remaining largely unchanged compared to January 1st. Compared to December 1st (when the price of silicon 441# was 9,750 RMB/ton), the price decreased by 130 RMB/ton, a drop of 1.33%.

With both supply and demand weak, the silicon market was operating in a weak but stable manner

According to the commodity price analysis system of SunSirs, as of the beginning of 2026, the domestic silicon spot market had not seen a significant upward trend. The market trend was generally weak and consolidating, with little fluctuation compared to before the holiday. On January 6th, the market price of silicon 441# in East China was approximately 9,300-9,500 RMB/ton, oxygen-blown 553# was approximately 9,200-9,300 RMB/ton, 521# was approximately 9,300-9,500 RMB/ton, and 421# was approximately 9,500-9,800 RMB/ton.

Fundamentals Overview

Supply and Production: Currently, the overall sentiment in the silicon market is weak.  Regarding supply, there have been maintenance and production cuts in the northern regions, leading to a decrease in overall silicon production and output.

In terms of demand: As of January 6, overall purchasing by downstream users of silicon remained cautious. Slight reductions in production of downstream polysilicon and organosilicon led to a contraction in demand for industrial silicon. Although some users had restocking needs, most were adopting a wait-and-see approach and primarily making inquiries, resulting in relatively limited actual transactions.

Market Outlook

As of January 6, the silicon market was characterized by weak supply and demand, with a subdued trading atmosphere. Inventory pressure had not eased significantly. According to data analysts at SunSirs, the domestic silicon market is expected to continue its weaker trend in the short term, with prices adjustments within a narrow range. Further developments will depend on changes in supply and demand dynamics.
