During the week of December 15-19, 2025, Australian thermal coal prices for 6,000 kcal/kg declined slightly on a weekly basis, mainly due to weak demand from Chinese buyers. Thermal coal prices at the three major European ports remained stable. According to monitoring by China Coal Market Network: As of December 19, the Newcastle Port thermal coal price index in Australia stood at USD 107.96 per ton, down USD 1.68 per ton from USD 109.64 per ton as of December 12, representing a decline of 1.53%. Meanwhile, the Richards Bay thermal coal price index in South Africa was USD 87.45 per ton, up USD 0.15 per ton from USD 87.3 per ton as of December 12, reflecting an increase of 0.17%.The European three-port thermal coal price index stood at USD 95.88 per ton, unchanged from the USD 95.88 per ton recorded as of December 12.
