SunSirs: Last Week, the Price of Polyester Filament Initially Weakened, Then Stabilized, and Saw a Slight Increase at the End of the Week

December 22 2025 14:00:53     SunSirs (John)

Price trend:

Last week (December 15-19), polyester filament prices initially weakened before stabilizing and then slightly increasing at the end of the week. In the first half of the week, prices were weak due to falling raw material prices and cautious downstream demand; in the second half of the week, raw material prices rebounded and restocking began, causing prices to stabilize and then slightly increase. On Friday, POY/FDY prices individually rose by 50 RMB/ton, while DTY prices remained largely stable. As of December 19th, the mainstream polyester filament factories in Jiangsu and Zhejiang quoted POY (150D/48F) at 6,200-6,500 RMB/ton, polyester DTY (150D/48F low elasticity) at 7,700-8,000 RMB/ton, and polyester FDY (150D/96F) at 6,600-6,850 RMB/ton.

Market Analysis

Cost side: At the beginning of the week, weaker PTA/MEG prices pressured polyester filament; however, on the 18th and 19th, raw material prices rose sharply, strengthening cost support and giving factories more confidence to adjust prices.

Demand side: In the early stages, weaving/texturizing factories purchased materials as needed, resulting in low inventory levels; on the 18th, production and sales rebounded, and restocking increased, leading to a recovery in transactions on the 19th.

Supply side: Major factories were operating steadily, inventory was under control, and prices saw a slight increase towards the end of the day.

Market Forecast:

According to SunSirs, cost support remains strong, and restocking demand continues. A slight increase of 50-100 RMB/ton is expected at the beginning of next week.
