SunSirs: Potassium Sulfate Prices Remained Stable Last Week (December 15-19)

According to the commodity price analysis system of SunSirs: At the beginning of last week, the price of potassium sulfate with a 50% content was 3,693 RMB/ton, and at the end of last week, the price of potassium sulfate with a 50% content was also 3,693 RMB/ton, indicating a stable price.

Market Analysis

As of December 19, the average ex-factory price of processed potassium sulfate (Mannheim process, 50% powder) was 3,700 RMB/ton, unchanged from last week; the average ex-factory price of Mannheim 52% powder potassium sulfate was 3,950 RMB/ton, an increase of 50 RMB/ton compared to last week. Although manufacturers were maintaining their previous quotations, overall sales continued to be unprofitable. Due to high prices of raw materials such as potassium chloride and sulfuric acid, and difficulties in procuring supplies, the operating rates of enterprises were generally low, with some companies suspending production or only maintaining minimum levels of operation.

Although there was an intention to increase the price of potassium sulfate, downstream factories were not very receptive, resulting in temporarily stable market prices. There was virtually no inventory at the factories, and most of the previous orders were still being shipped. Xinjiang Luojia's 52% powdered potassium sulfate was being supplied to regular customers based on previous orders, with a delivered price of 3,600 RMB/ton last week.

Market Outlook

Potassium sulfate market transactions fell short of expectations, and it is anticipated that domestic potassium fertilizer prices will likely fluctuate in the short term.
