SunSirs: The Spot Prices of LLDPE and LDPE in East China Have Fallen

December 19 2025 14:59:22     SunSirs (Selena)

On December 18th, Shandong Wanhua Chemical reported LLDPE 7042 in the East China region at 6,700 RMB/ton, a decrease of 100 RMB/ton; LLDPE 7050 in East China was reported at 6,750 RMB/ton, a decrease of 100 RMB/ton; LDPE 2420H (including pallets) in East China is priced at 8,115 RMB/ton, a decrease of 150 RMB/ton.

Reason: The 100 RMB/ton drop in LLDPE spot prices in the East China region indicates oversupply or weak demand in the market, which has a general negative impact on spot prices. Based on polyethylene futures data, the main contract, such as 2605, closed at 6,476 RMB/ton, a decrease of 2 RMB/ton, with a large trading volume and increased holdings, reflecting weak expectations in the futures market, which may further drag down spot prices.

Reason: The spot price of LDPE has dropped by 150 RMB/ton, with a greater decline, indicating a strong bearish signal, due to supply pressure or insufficient demand. The closing price of polyethylene futures contract 2607 is 6,503 RMB/ton, a decrease of 3 RMB/ton, with a settlement price of 6,520 RMB/ton. The trading volume is low but the change in holdings is small, indicating that the futures market is cautious about LDPE related varieties, which may exacerbate the downside risk of spot trading.
