SunSirs: The Market for Soda Ash in Some Regions of China on December 17th

On December 17th, the benchmark price of light soda ash according to SunSirs was 1,258.00 RMB/ton, an increase of 2.78% compared to the beginning of the month (1,224.00 RMB/ton).

On December 17th, the benchmark price for heavy soda ash, according to SunSirs, was 1,222.86 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.36% compared to the beginning of the month (1,206.43 RMB/ton).

On December 17th, the soda ash prices in North China were as follows: light soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,250-1,280 RMB/ton, an increase of 10 RMB/ton compared to December 1st; heavy soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,300-1,350 RMB/ton. Soda ash production remained stable, and inventory levels did not change significantly. Downstream buyers entered the market for low-priced, essential purchases, and market transactions were conducted through negotiation. In the short term, the soda ash market in North China is expected to remain stable.

On December 17th, the soda ash prices in East China were as follows: the mainstream market price for light soda ash was around 1,200-1,600 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 20-50 RMB/ton compared to December 1st; the mainstream market price for heavy soda ash was around 1,200-1,300 RMB/ton. Soda ash production remained stable, and inventory levels did not change significantly. Downstream buyers mainly purchased based on immediate needs, and market transactions were relatively active. The soda ash market in East China is expected to remain stable in the short term.

On December 17th, the soda ash prices in Central China were quoted as follows: light soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,110-1,220 RMB/ton; heavy soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,200-1,400 RMB/ton. Downstream buyers mainly purchased at low prices, resulting in a weak market trading atmosphere. Supply remained stable, and market participants adopted a wait-and-see attitude. The soda ash market in Central China is expected to consolidate in the short term.
