On December 15th, the closing price of MTBE in the overseas market decreased: the closing price of MTBE in Asia decreased by $9.86/ton compared to the previous trading day, and FOB Singapore closed at $633.31-635.31/ton. The closing price of the European MTBE market decreased by $9.25/ton compared to the previous trading day, and FOB ARA closed at $738.74-739.24/ton. The closing price of the MTBE market in the United States decreased by $7.01 per ton compared to the previous trading day, and the FOB Gulf offshore price closed at $626.62-626.97 per ton (176.93-177.03 cents per gallon).
This indicates that there is an oversupply or weak demand in the market, which poses a significant negative impact on spot prices. Futures prices usually follow the trend of spot prices, and it is expected that MTBE futures will also face downward pressure.
