SunSirs: U.S. Tire Imports Increase 6.6% Year-on-Year in the First Three Quarters of 2025

According to the latest data, the United States imported a total of 217.312 million tires in the first three quarters of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%. Of these, passenger car tire imports increased by 4% year-on-year to 131.08 million units; truck and bus tire imports increased by 8% year-on-year to 47.16 million units; aircraft tire imports decreased by 9.3% year-on-year to 202,000 units; motorcycle tire imports increased by 17% year-on-year to 2.92 million units; and bicycle tire imports increased by 2% year-on-year to 5 million units.
From January to September, the United States imported a total of 16.92 million tires from China, a year-on-year decrease of 12%. Of these, passenger car tire imports decreased by 37% year-on-year to 750,000 units; and truck and bus tire imports decreased by 12% year-on-year to 1.05 million units.
From January to September, the United States imported a total of 56.28 million tires from Thailand, a year-on-year increase of 14%. Of these, passenger car tires accounted for 34.35 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10%; and truck and bus tires accounted for 12.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%.
