According to the latest customs statistics, China exported 3.804 billion lithium-ion batteries from January to October 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 18.93%. China's lithium-ion battery exports reached $62.348 billion from January to October 2025, marking a 26.51% year-on-year increase and maintaining steady growth momentum. Specifically, October 2025 saw exports valued at $6.968 billion, up 24.64% year-on-year, with 405 million units exported—a 17.16% increase compared to the same period last year.
Germany has surpassed the United States as China's largest lithium-ion battery export market since May. From January to October 2025, exports to Germany reached $11.267 billion, a year-on-year increase of 29.23%, accounting for 18.1% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports. The United States ranked as the second-largest market, with exports totaling $9.94 billion during the same period, a 13.89% year-on-year decrease, accounting for 15.9% of China's lithium-ion battery exports. Vietnam emerged as the third-largest export destination, with exports valued at $3.59 billion, a 16.09% year-on-year increase, representing 5.8% of China's lithium-ion battery exports. Among the top ten export destinations, Chile, Saudi Arabia, and Australia recorded the highest year-on-year growth rates.
From January to October 2025, Guangdong Province emerged as China's largest source of lithium-ion battery exports, with an export value of $16.48 billion—a 40.52% year-on-year increase—accounting for 26.4% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports. Export volume reached 1.27 billion units, up 13.62% year-on-year. Fujian Province ranked second with exports valued at $15.13 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.81%, accounting for 24.3% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports. Export volume reached 283 million units, up 32.3% year-on-year. Jiangsu Province ranked third with exports valued at $8.056 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.59%, accounting for 12.9% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports. Export volume reached 754 million units, up 18.54% year-on-year. The combined lithium-ion battery exports from Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangsu provinces accounted for 63.6% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports.
The three provinces with the highest export value growth from January to October 2025 were Sichuan Province, Hubei Province, and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with export values increasing by 364.14%, 132.12%, and 74.98%, respectively. The three provinces/municipalities with the highest export volume growth were Sichuan Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Shanghai Municipality, with increases of 111.45%, 94.12%, and 35.2%, respectively. Sichuan Province, represented by Yibin City, has established a robust lithium battery industry chain cluster. It has attracted substantial investments from leading enterprises like CATL, building a closed-loop ecosystem spanning materials to battery recycling. Production capacity has rapidly expanded, reflected in its foreign trade exports.
As an integrated internet platform providing benchmark prices, on December 1st, the benchmark price of lithium hydroxide (battery grade) on SunSirs was 81,166.67 RMB/ton, an increase of 8.54% compared with the beginning of the previous month (74,783.33 RMB/ton).
