According to the SunSirs' commodity market analysis system, as of November 16th, the average market price of acetic acid was 2,433.33 RMB/ton, an increase of 13.33 RMB/ton or 0.55% compared to the price of 2,420.00 RMB/ton on November 10th. This cycle, the domestic acetic acid market saw a slight upward adjustment, mainly due to reduced capacity utilization on the supply side, easing market inventory pressure, and a bullish sentiment among producers. On the demand side, downstream purchases were mainly based on immediate needs, resulting in limited market transactions and weak support for acetic acid prices.

Market Analysis

Last week, the price of raw material methanol fluctuated. As of the 16th, the average domestic market price was 2,070 RMB/ton, a 0.15% increase compared to 2,067 RMB/ton on November 10th. Methanol imports remained high, port inventories continued to accumulate, and although downstream demand showed some recovery, the market fundamentals remained one of oversupply. Methanol producers faced significant pressure to sell, resulting in a volatile methanol market.

The downstream acetic anhydride market remained cautious, with the average ex-factory price of acetic anhydride staying at 4,107.50 RMB/ton from November 10th to 16th. Upstream acetic acid prices were relatively strong, providing cost support for acetic anhydride. However, downstream enthusiasm for entering the market was low, resulting in a weak market atmosphere and a volatile trading environment. Ultimately, acetic anhydride prices stabilized during the period.

Market outlook

According to analysts at SunSirs, some domestic acetic acid manufacturers were undergoing maintenance shutdowns, resulting in low inventory pressure and a generally bullish market sentiment.
