SunSirs: Bromine Prices Remained Stable Last Week (October 27-30)

According to the SunSirs' commodity market analysis system, bromine prices remained stable last week. The average market price from the beginning to the end of the week was 30,000 RMB/ton, a 37.61% increase compared to the same period last year.

On October 29th, the SunSirs bromine index was 105.26 points, unchanged from the previous day, down 57.07% from the highest point of 245.18 (October 27, 2021) within the cycle, and up 78.65% from the lowest point of 58.92 (October 29, 2014). (Note: The cycle refers to September 1, 2011 to present.)

Analysis review 

Bromine prices remained stable last week, with spot bromine prices in Shandong province ranging from 29,000 to 32,000 RMB/ton ex-factory. Due to weather and policy factors, domestic bromine producers maintained tight inventories, resulting in insufficient industry operating rates. Downstream companies showed moderate purchasing activity.

Regarding raw materials: domestic sulfur prices weakened last week, with the average market price at the beginning of the week at 3,314.33 RMB/ton and the average price at the end of the week at 3,297.67 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.5%, but an increase of 117.29% compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand was moderate.

Market outlook

Bromine prices were relatively stable recently, while upstream sulfur prices were weak. Bromine supply was tight, but downstream buyers were mostly purchasing on an as-needed basis and were resistant to bromine price increases. Overall, bromine prices are expected to continue to consolidate in the near future, depending on downstream market demand.
