Price trend
In October 2025, the price trend of polyester filament was initially downward before rising, showing an overall stable adjustment. As of October 30, the mainstream polyester filament factories in Jiangsu and Zhejiang quoted POY (150D/48F) at 6,400-6,700 RMB/ton, polyester DTY (150D/48F low elasticity) at 7,750-8,000 RMB/ton, and polyester FDY (150D/96F) at 6,500-6,800 RMB/ton.
Early October saw a downward trend: Following the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, the polyester filament market experienced sluggish trading, leading to rapid inventory accumulation among manufacturers. As of October 9th, the average inventory of sample polyester filament manufacturers reached 22 days, an increase of 4 days compared to before the holidays. From October 13th to 17th, the market as a whole showed a weak downward trend, with prices shifting downwards. On October 20th, prices for polyester POY, FDY, and DTY all fell to varying degrees. Polyester POY was priced at 6,750 RMB/ton, a daily change of -2.61%; polyester FDY was priced at 6,826.67 RMB/ton, a daily change of -2.52%; and polyester DTY was priced at 7,931.25 RMB/ton, a daily change of -1.86%.
Stabilizing and rebounding in mid-October: On October 23, influenced by rising international oil prices and an improved fabric market, some polyester plants reduced discounts on polyester filament or raised their prices by 50-100 RMB/ton. On October 24, Rongsheng Petrochemical raised prices by 50-100 RMB/ton for some semi-dull DTY, 50 yuan for POY and FDY, and 100 RMB/ton for some FDY.
Late October saw a period of consolidation: On October 30th, polyester filament prices fluctuated and consolidated overall, with most transactions being small, scattered batches. Prices remained stable with minor adjustments. The mainstream price for POY 150D/48F was 6,450-6,500 RMB/ton cash, and the mainstream price for DTY 150D/48F was 7,750-7,850 RMB/ton cash. FDY prices were raised due to losses, mainly reflected in fine filaments.
Analysis review
Cost factors: International oil prices rebounded significantly from October 22 to 23, which led to an increase in polymerization costs, squeezing the profit margins of polyester filament manufacturers. This resulted in a significant increase in manufacturers' willingness to maintain prices, thus supporting polyester filament prices.
Supply and Demand: On the supply side, the industry had high inventory levels in the early stages. As of October 17, the inventory of grey fabric at weaving mills was significantly higher than the same period last year, making it difficult for polyester filament trading volume to continue to rise. On the demand side, the recovery in demand during the peak season of "Golden September and Silver October" was weak, and downstream weaving enterprises were cautious in their procurement, mainly replenishing their inventory for immediate needs. However, in late October, the arrival of cold air caused demand for winter fabrics to begin to recover. On October 21, the average production-to-sales ratio of sample polyester filament enterprises once soared to 367.9%, and on the 27th, the average production-to-sales ratio of sample enterprises also reached 218% at the end of the trading day. The boost in demand provided some support for prices.
Market sentiment: As market conditions improved, polyester manufacturers adjusted their prices from time to time in order to seize market share, and market sentiment had improved. Some companies were more willing to hold prices. However, due to the overall high inventory, downstream users were still cautious and wait-and-see.
