SunSirs: Summer Grain Procurement Season Concludes with Nearly 108 Million Tons of Wheat Purchased
October 17 2025 09:25:12     The National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration announced today (16th) that this year's summer grain procurement season concluded at the end of September, with a total of 107.95 million tons of wheat purchased. Major producing regions including Henan, Anhui, Hebei, Jiangsu, and Shandong successively activated the minimum purchase price implementation plan for wheat, procuring a total of 16.4 million tons of wheat at the minimum purchase price. This effectively leveraged the policy's role in providing a safety net, keeping the market stable. With reduced market circulation and increased consumption demand during autumn and winter, wheat prices in major producing regions have maintained a steady upward trend since October.
Additionally, on October 16, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian stated that food security is fundamental to human survival. As the world's largest grain producer, China feeds over 1.4 billion people with less than 9% of the world's arable land. In recent years, China's comprehensive grain production capacity has continued to increase, with more than one pound of every five pounds of grain globally produced in China, making an outstanding contribution to safeguarding global food security. China remains committed to improving global food security and advancing global poverty reduction through international cooperation.
