SunSirs: Transaction Volume Was Light and Activated Charcoal Prices Fell
September 26 2025 11:12:54     SunSirs (John)Price trend
According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of activated charcoal was 12,933 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 12,900 RMB/ton at the weekend, a decrease of 0.26%.
Analysis review
Domestic activated charcoal manufacturers' quotations fell this month. The ex-factory price of coconut shell activated charcoal for water purification (iodine value 1000) is between 11,000 and 13,500 RMB/ton. The demand for coconut shell activated charcoal in traditional fields such as water treatment and air purification continues to grow. The high price limits transaction enthusiasm, and market transactions are lower than expected.
While the technologies for biomass alternative raw materials, such as bamboo-based and straw-based charcoal, are gradually maturing, they are unlikely to completely replace coconut shell activated charcoal in the short term, and coconut shell charcoal still dominates the market. With the implementation of production expansion plans in major producing countries like Indonesia and the Philippines, and the widespread adoption of alternative raw material technologies, prices may decline, but the market will remain volatile at a high level in the short term.
Market outlook
The domestic activated charcoal market has a sluggish transaction volume, and it is expected that the activated charcoal price may fluctuate and show a weaker trend in the short term.
