Macroeconomics

1. [Logistics Industry Business Climate Index] According to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, China's logistics industry business climate index was 50.9% in August, up 0.4 percentage points from the previous month. The total business volume index remained in the expansionary range for six consecutive months, and the new orders index remained in the expansionary range for seven consecutive months.

2. [US ISM Manufacturing Index] The US ISM manufacturing index rose slightly to 48.7 in August from 48 in July, below the market expectation of 49, and remained below the boom-bust line for six consecutive months. The new orders index rose to 51.4, the first expansion since the beginning of the year. However, the output index fell 3.6 points to 47.8, falling back into contractionary territory.

3. [Eurozone CPI] The eurozone CPI rose 2.1% year-on-year in August, compared with expectations of a flat 2%. The core CPI fell slightly to 2.3% year-on-year, in line with market expectations. The closely watched service price increase slowed to 3.1%.

4. [ECB] Hawkish ECB Executive Board member Schnabel said the ECB should pause interest rate cuts as inflation risks are tilted to the upside.

5. [Bank of Japan] Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Yoshizo Himino stated that, given the improving economic and price trends, continuing to raise interest rates is an appropriate policy option. He emphasized that despite the Bank of Japan's three interest rate hikes, Japan's real interest rates remain significantly low due to persistent inflation, and there is still room for monetary policy normalization.

6. [South Korea CPI] South Korea's CPI rose 1.7% year-on-year in August, narrowing by 0.4 percentage points from the previous month and reaching its lowest level since November of last year.

Building materials

1. [Glass] Zhuzhou Liling Qibin's fourth production line (designed capacity: 600 tons/day) was started up on August 31st, with plans to produce clear glass.

2. [Wood Pulp] Hubei Zhencheng Paper Co., Ltd. recently announced a 510,000-ton annual bleached chemical pulp project.

3. [Wastepaper] On September 2nd, Jiangsu Taicang Nine Dragons Paper raised its wastepaper purchase price by 20 RMB/ton, bringing the adjusted ex-factory price to 1,670 RMB/ton.

Zhejiang Jiaxing Shanying Paper raised its wastepaper purchase price by 30 RMB/ton, bringing the adjusted ex-factory price without invoice to 1,770 RMB/ton.

Zhejiang Jiaxing Jingxing Paper raised its wastepaper purchase price by 30 RMB/ton, bringing the adjusted ex-factory price without invoice to 1,720 RMB/ton.

4. [Corrugated Paper] Shanying International: Starting September 1st, prices of redwood, T-paper, and corrugated paper at its Zhejiang and Anhui bases will increase by 30 RMB/ton.

Chongqing Nine Dragons Paper: Starting September 3rd, prices of all recycled paper and corrugated paper will increase by 50 RMB/ton.

Tianjin/Hebei Nine Dragons Paper: Starting September 3rd, prices of recycled linerboard and corrugated paper at its Tianjin and Hebei bases will increase by 50 RMB/ton.

Quanzhou Nine Dragons Paper: Starting September 8th, prices of Jianglong linerboard, recycled linerboard, and corrugated paper will increase by 50 RMB/ton; starting September 10th, prices of Dilong linerboard will increase by 30 RMB/ton.

Dongguan Nine Dragons Paper: Starting September 8th, the prices of Dilong recycled linerboard, Jianglong recycled linerboard, Nine Dragons corrugated paper, and Dilong corrugated paper will increase by 30 RMB/ton; starting September 11th, the prices of Nine Dragons whiteboard, Dilong whiteboard, and Jianglong whiteboard will increase by 50 RMB/ton.

Leshan Nine Dragons Paper: Starting September 9th, the price of corrugated paper will increase by 50 RMB/ton.

Taicang Nine Dragons Paper: Starting September 10th, the prices of Dilong premium V linerboard, Dilong premium linerboard, Dilong linerboard, recycled series linerboard, and corrugated paper will increase by 50 RMB/ton.

5. [Corrugated Paper] Recently, Modern Karton's PM6 corrugated base paper production line with an annual capacity of 700,000 tons in Turkey successfully started up and produced its first roll of corrugated base paper.

6. [Pulp] Construction of the sixth pulp mill in Mato Grosso do Sul state, located in Bataguassu, is reportedly set to begin in February 2026. Bracell's project production line will have an annual pulp production capacity of 2.8 million tons.
