SunSirs: Domestic Phenol Market Dominated by Rise (August 15-22)

August 25 2025 09:51:19     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

The domestic phenol market saw an overall upward trend last week. Data monitored by SunSirs showed that in East China, the domestic phenol market price was 6,700 RMB/ton on August 15th, and 6,843 RMB/ton on August 22nd, an increase of 140 RMB/ton, or 2.14%. Nationwide, all major markets saw similar increases.

Analysis review

Last week, the domestic phenol market was dominated by rising prices. Sinopec's East China unit raised its listed price by 50 RMB/ton to 6,800 RMB/ton. On the supply side, phenol port inventories in Jiangyin fell to 9,000 tons at the start of the week, and domestic trade cargo replenishment was minimal during the week. This limited supply pressure led to rising trader quotations. On the demand side, downstream demand for bisphenol A was expected to decrease, while other downstream markets saw little change, prompting caution in chasing price increases at the end of the market. On the cost side, raw material benzene prices remained weaker during the week.

As of August 22nd, phenol quotations in major markets nationwide were as follows:

Region

Market outlook

SunSirs predicts that the cost support will weaken next week. From the supply and demand perspective, both supply and demand will decrease. Continue to pay attention to the domestic trade cargo situation. There is no shipping pressure in the supply contracts. The phenol market is expected to maintain stable operation next week.
