SunSirs: The Seamless Tube Market Saw a Slight Increase Last Week (August 11-15)
August 20 2025 13:52:47     SunSirs (John)Price trend
According to SunSirs’ data, seamless tube prices saw a slight increase last week. By the end of the week, the price of 20#, 108*4.5 seamless tube was 4,102.5 RMB/ton, up 0.61% from the beginning of the week and down 5.59% year-on-year.
Analysis review
Last week, the market price of tube billets fell slightly. The ex-factory price of 20# hot rolled tube billets was 3,360-3,430 RMB/ton.
News of Tangshan's production restrictions ignited the market, with focus on the effectiveness of the restrictions during the military parade. Market sentiment was buoyed by expectations of easing supply and demand pressures for tubes. If the policy is fully implemented, it will directly squeeze the supply side. However, the market remained skeptical about the ability to unleash demand. Continued high temperatures and heavy rains across the country hampered construction at terminal sites. While spot trading had improved month-over-month, total volume remained average, maintaining the pressure of off-season inventory accumulation.
Market outlook
As of August 15, seamless tube prices were trending downward, supported by low cost and inventory pressures. However, upward pressure was being constrained by the off-season demand and insufficient demand. The short-term weak supply and demand situation persists, but given the upcoming major events, prices are expected to rise rather than fall. National seamless tube prices are expected to be stronger.
